EXTREME BALLROOM COMPANY
DECEMBER NEWSLETTER

Dear Students and Parents of Extreme Ballroom,

First I want to let all the students know what a great job they did at the Festival of Trees this year.  It is always frightening at your very first performance of the year, but I thought they did a great job, and all of us as teachers were very proud of their accomplishments.  The Festival of Trees committee told me again that we were the nicest group to work with, and even the ladies in the hallways said that our students were very respectful to them and they really appreciated it.

SUB-4-SANTA and Holiday Family Dance

Date has been moved to Friday, Dec. 18 7-10 p.m at the Studio,

Cost: $10 per family or $4 per person… ALL proceeds will be donated to our family

Last year was the first year we started the “Holiday Family Dance.”  It was a great success and we were able to raise quite a bit of money for our family.  In fact, the family still wants to remain anonymous but I want you to know that your donations and charity last year actually helped them save their home.  They were able to make their payment and then re-finance and it all came at the exact time they needed it.  This to me is an absolute miracle and this is why I think we need to keep doing this project each year.  I think it is so wonderful that not only are you all great dancers, but you are
such great people as well, and parents you have raised great kids!

So, we have started a tradition now, and we are going to continue it again.  We have another family in our group that is in need of help.  They are the type of people who never ask for help, but are constantly helping others.  They don’t even know that I have chosen them, and if I were to tell them, they would not accept the help, so we are just going to give it to them anyway. We would love it if you could all come to the dance with your families and we would appreciate it if you could spread the word to everyone you know.  Friends, neighbors, relatives, teachers, whoever you know.  The dance is a great family activity plus they are supporting a great cause.  We will have tickets available to sell beginning Monday, Dec. 14.  If people purchase tickets from you, have them make the check out to Extreme Ballroom, but put “Sub-4-Santa” on the memo.  We are also asking for canned food donations that can be dropped off at the studio when your child comes to class or brought to the dance.  The more donations and food we can come up with, the more we can help this family. We will have ballroom instruction for the first ½ hour of the dance, a professional D.J. coming to run the music, and refreshments.  We  also have a SPECIAL VISITOR coming around 8:30 p.m. that all the kiddies will love to see!  From what I hear, he usually wears red and has a white beard! .

As you can see, once January hits, the Medley teams especially are going to be very busy getting ready for Nationals.  Please stay on top of their rehearsals and communicate with your teachers early if there is a problem.  We will hand out individual calendars to all medley team members in January to help them stay on top of this.  Also, we may have to add more practices in, it just depends on where we are at before the 1st comp.
